Prayer restrains from indecency

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of the fatwa number ( 18164 )
Q2: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a hadith to the effect of: “Whoever’s prayer does not restrain him, he is not one of us.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke the truth. In another place, some of the Companions said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): “So-and-so prays and commits indecency.” He said (peace and blessings be upon him): “His prayer will come one day and restrain him.” In the first hadith, he said: “Whoever’s prayer does not restrain him, he is not one of us.” And the second: that the one who commits indecency, his prayer will prevent him from indecency. So should the one who commits indecency pray or not?
Vol. 2: The first statement is not a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), as far as we know. And Allah the Exalted said:
and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoingوَأَقِمِ الصَّلاَةَ إِنَّ الصَّلاَةَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ
[Al-'Ankabut 29:45]
So, whoever establishes the prayer in the prescribed manner, his prayer will restrain him from what is shameful and wrong, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the one who was told that he stands in prayer at night and steals by day:
If he is truthful, then what he says will restrain himإن كان صادقًا فسينهاه ما تقول
However, if the prayer is performed in a manner other than the prescribed one, it will not restrain its performer from what is shameful and wrong, due to the deficiency in it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
