I swore by Allah that if I succeed in school, I will fast for a month and seven days

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14498 )
Q: Our daughter swore by Allah that if she succeeds in school, she will fast for a month and seven days. Is she obligated to fast the month and the seven days consecutively, or does she have to pay expiation for that? Please inform us about this, and may Allah preserve you.
A: It is obligatory for your daughter to fulfill the vow; because it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever vows that he will be obedient to Allah, should remain obedient to Himمن نذر أن يطيع الله فليطعه
Sahih al-Bukhari 6696
, and as for whether the fasting is consecutive or not, that depends on her intention. If she made the vow without specifying, she should fast consecutively as a precaution. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
