What is the ruling on consecutive fasting for one who vowed to fast a complete month?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We return at the beginning of this episode to a message sent to the program from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, or rather sent by our sister listener, Iman Yusuf. We addressed some of her questions in a previous episode, and in this episode she asks and says: I vowed to fast a month. Is it permissible for me to fast thirty days on Mondays and Thursdays? Or is it necessary for the days to be consecutive?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
Vowing is disliked due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do not make vows, for a vow has no effect against fate; it is only from the miserly that it is a means by which something is extracted.لا تنذروا فإن النذر لا يرد من قدر الله شيئًا، وإنما يستخرج به من البخيل
Mishkat al-Masabih 3426
Therefore, it is prescribed not to make vows. However, when a person vows obedience to Allah, he must fulfill it, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him, and whoever vows to disobey Allah, let him not disobey Him.من نذر أن يطيع الله فليطعه، ومن نذر أن يعصي الله فلا يعصه
Sunan Ibn Majah 2126Sahih (Darussalam)
narrated by al-Bukhari in the Sahih.
And Allah the Exalted praised the believers who fulfill their vows, saying:
They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا
[Al-Insan:7] Therefore, it is obligatory for you to fulfill it; because fasting is obedience to Allah. And you must fast a consecutive month if you intended consecutiveness. As for if you did not intend consecutiveness, the best is to be consecutive; because the month is to be consecutive. But if you intended not to be consecutive.. you intended to fast thirty scattered days, there is no blame on you if you fast on Mondays and Thursdays until you complete thirty.
As for if you intended consecutiveness, it is necessary to fast thirty consecutive days. Or if you said: a month, and did not intend anything, the best is that you be consecutive; because the month is to be consecutive. And we advise you not to return to making vows. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
