Eating from a Vow

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question from Fatwa number ( 19667 )
Q4: My husband had a problem at his work, so he was forced to stop working. My husband swore that if he returned to his work, the first
salary he received, he would give it in charity. He would take three sheep or a shoulder of meat from it. He returned to his work, praise be to Allah, but he was unable to fulfill his vow because of the debts he owed . And, as you know, he has had continuous problems since the day he incurred the debt for the vow. O honorable Shaykh: Is it permissible for me, his wife, to fulfill the vow on his behalf with something from my own money? And is it permissible for the one who made the vow and his family to eat from it? Please rule for me, O honorable Shaykh. May Allah reward you with good and guide your steps.

A4: It is obligatory for your husband to fulfill his vow. It is permissible for you to fulfill it on his behalf from your own money with his permission, and you will be rewarded for that, if Allah wills. As for eating from the vow, if he intended at the time of making the vow to eat from it, then it is permissible for him to eat. Otherwise, it is not permissible, and he must distribute it to the poor. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
