What is the ruling on eating from a vow?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Yes, Shaykh, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh: Welcome, welcome, may Allah keep you in good health, welcome, welcome. Yes?

The questioner: Regarding eating from a vow.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : It is permissible.

The Shaykh: Yes, may Allah bless you, it varies depending on the one who made the vow.

The questioner: Yes, meaning, if he said he made a vow and that nothing is to be eaten from it, nothing is to be eaten from it.

The Shaykh: Here, there are three cases.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh: If the one who made the vow made an absolute vow, do you understand the meaning of the word "absolute"?

The questioner: No, by Allah, my brother.

The Shaykh: It means he did not specify himself or his family, but rather said, "It is obligatory upon me, if for example my Lord heals so-and-so, that I slaughter a sacrificial animal." In that case, this sacrificial animal is distributed to the poor and the needy, and he does not eat from it. The second case is if he intended to eat from it; it is clear that he eats from it.

The questioner: Yes, what is the amount?

The Shaykh: It depends on the intention. If he intended to eat it himself and with his family, then it is for him and his family. If he intended it for himself and the poor and the needy, then "actions are by intentions." And in another case, which is very rare, he says that he will not eat from it. This is exactly like the first case.

The questioner : May Allah honor you.

The Shaykh : Welcome.

The questioner: O Shaykh, from 8 o'clock to 9 o'clock you are receiving phone calls.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner: Only that, nothing else.

The Shaykh : But

The questioner : May Allah honor you.

The Shaykh : Peace be upon you

The questioner : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
