What is sufficient for expiation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 9555 )
Q 5: I have a brother who vowed that he would not return to sin, and if he did return, he would not break this vow except by fasting three consecutive days. Is it sufficient for him to feed ten poor people, or is fasting obligatory?
A 5: It is sufficient for him as expiation to feed ten poor people, or to clothe them, or to free a believing slave. If he is unable to do so, let him fast three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
