A wife’s disagreement with her husband and then speaking about him in gatherings is considered backbiting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa number ( 20721 )
Q3: A woman says that her husband sometimes quarrels with her, and it happens that his wife gets angry. So, after he leaves and her sons and daughters come to her, she speaks about him—meaning: their father—and to her relatives; because when a person gets angry—Your Eminence, the Shaykh—he speaks words without realizing what he is saying. If she speaks these words, is it backbiting and cursing her husband? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A3: If this woman speaks about her husband in a way that he would dislike to be said about him, then it is forbidden backbiting, which is prohibited by the Shari'ah. She must repent, and that repentance must be sincere. She should seek reward from Allah for what occurs between her and her husband, and address the matter through patience and kindness toward her husband. She should not spread the disagreements that occur between her and her husband in front of her children or others; for in that lies dealing with evil by evil, and the expansion of the circle of disagreement. It also breeds resentment in the hearts of the children toward their father, and is a cause for disagreement with him, severing ties with him, and undutifulness to him.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
