Fatwa No. ( 328 )
Q: I found in some religious books that the cauterization used by some people to treat their patients is disliked, and they did not mention any evidence for its being disliked, even though experience has proven that it is beneficial, by the permission of Allah, for the sick. I hope you will inform me about this with the evidence.
A : Cauterization is a type of treatment by the text of the hadith, and it is beneficial, by the permission of Allah, if it hits the disease. However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that he dislikes it, and he prohibited his Ummah from it because of its ugliness, and because it resembles torture by fire, even if torture is not intended by it, and only treatment is intended. Therefore, it was said: It is disliked because of the dislike of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for it when other types of treatment are found, and his prohibition of his Ummah from it. Al-Bukhari narrated from the route of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 5680 And Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from the route of Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Sahih al-Bukhari 5683 . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, cupping, and branding with fire (cauterizing)." But I forbid my followers to use (cauterization) branding with fire.
الشفاء في ثلاثة: شربة عسل، وشرطة محجم، وكية نار، وأنهى أمتي عن الكيIf there is any healing in your medicines, then it is in cupping, a gulp of honey or branding with fire (cauterization) that suits the ailment, but I don't like to be (cauterized) branded with fire.
إن كان في شيء من أدويتكم أو يكون في شيء من أدويتكم خير ففي شرطة محجم، أو شربة عسل، أو لذعةٍ بنار، توافق الداء، وما أحب أن أكتوي
