The Ruling on Carrying Amulets

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 16796 )
Q 1: What is the view of the Islamic religion regarding carrying amulets and performing ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) ?
A 1 : It is not permissible to carry amulets or hang them on people; due to the prohibition of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of that, as he said:
Whoever hangs up an amulet, Allah will not complete [his affair] for himمن تعلق تميمة فلا أتم الله له
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:557
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
spells, charms and love-potions are polytheismإن الرقى والتمائم والتولة شرك
Sunan Abi Dawud 3883Sahih (Al-Albani)
The term ruqyah refers to what is other than the Qur'an and the prescribed supplications. As for ruqyah with the Qur'an and lawful supplications, by reciting over the sick person and seeking protection for them, there is nothing wrong with that; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
There is no harm in invocations so long as there is no polytheism in them.لا بأس بالرقى ما لم تكن شركًا
Sunan Abi Dawud 3886Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and amulets are things that are carried or hung to ward off the evil eye or to remove or ward off affliction. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
