Wearing a necklace, ring, or knot of threads to ward off or repel calamity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 17042 )
Q5: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever wears a witr, Muhammad is disavowed of himمن تقلد بوتر فإن محمدًا بريء منه
. Does the "witr" referred to here mean any type of gold or silver chain? Because I
used to recite this hadith to Muslim students who had placed silver chains around their necks?

A5: Wearing a necklace, ring, or knot of threads to ward off or repel calamity is forbidden and constitutes shirk (associating partners with Allah), regardless of the material; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited it and disavowed those who do it; for it is reliance upon other than Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and it is obligatory to rely upon Allah alone, for He is the One who benefits, harms, and heals. And
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man with a ring of copper on his hand, so he said: What is this? He said: It is for the fever. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remove it; for it will not increase you in anything but weakness, and if you were to die while it is on you, you would never succeed.
, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hangs up an amulet has committed shirk.من تعلق تميمة فقد أشرك
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
