Question seventeen from Fatwa number ( 18612 )
Q 17: Is it permissible to eat on the day of the disbelievers' festival in a restaurant one habitually frequents? Knowing that on that day of their festival, they prepare food specific to the occasion?
Vol. 17: If consuming this food constitutes participating in the festivals of the disbelievers, it is not permissible. However, if it is not so, meaning it happened by coincidence, it is permissible if it is from the food of the People of the Book , provided it does not contain anything forbidden, such as pork for example. As for if it is from the food of other than the People of the Book , it is not permissible to eat any of the meat they have slaughtered; because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has not permitted from the food of the disbelievers except the food of the People of the Book, and what is intended by this is the meat for which they perform the ritual slaughter.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
