The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19147 )
Q 1: Is this phrase correct in meaning: ("Were it not for the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him - the Arabs would have remained in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance")?
A 1: The correct way to say it is: ("Were it not for Allah, and then the sending of the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him -"), or ("Were it not for Allah sending the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him -"), in order to avoid words that touch upon creed. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
