The Ruling on Depicting Living Beings

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 16331 )
Q 3: What is the ruling on image-making? Is there any permissible image-making, such as that found on bags and canned foods, and in books that
contain pictures of ancient people, found in study books and historical references?

A 3: Image-making of living beings is forbidden in all its forms and by any means; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the image-makers and informed that the image-makers are the most severely punished of people on the Day of Resurrection, due to the severity of their crime and the magnitude of their sin. Image-making is not permissible except in cases of dire necessity, such as image-making for identity cards, personal identification, and passports. However, there is no blame in using images found in items that are trampled and used, such as cushions and carpets that are stepped on and used; because of what is established
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a curtain with images in it at her place, so he tore it and became angry, and said: "Indeed, the people of these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: 'Bring to life what you have created.'" Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "So I made two cushions from it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sit on them."
. And other hadiths have come regarding this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
