Q: A statement has spread among some people claiming that it is permissible to take the wealth of disbelievers and that it is permissible to steal the wealth of disbelievers. What is the validity of this statement? This statement has caused much fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and conflict among Muslims.
A : It is not permissible to seize the wealth of disbelievers who have a treaty or safe conduct with Muslims; because their wealth is respected by virtue of the treaty. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
