The Ruling on the Recorder

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 4246 )
Q1: What is the ruling in the Shari'ah regarding the recorder? Is it permissible to use it for reciting
the Qur'an and other things that do not contradict the Shari'ah? What is the ruling in the Shari'ah regarding the radio that transmits news from one place to another, and what is the difference between it and the recorder?

A1 : If the recorder is used to record the Qur'an, scholarly lectures, beneficial Islamic articles, or the like, then using it to record such things is good, and broadcasting them through it is good. If it is used to record obscene singing, atheistic lectures, bad articles, false propaganda, or the like, then that is evil. If its evil predominates over its good, its use is forbidden. The same ruling applies to what is broadcast by the radio: its good is praiseworthy, and its evil is forbidden, with no difference between them in this regard. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
