Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 4579 )
Q: What is the ruling on musical instruments? And if they do not distract; meaning: the musician performs all the prayers at their times and in congregation, then returns to playing again, and plays to perform Islamic anthems. May Allah reward you with all good, please provide the evidence from the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
A : Playing musical instruments is forbidden, just like singing. Even if the musician and those listening to him are not actually distracted from prayer or from performing it in congregation in the immediate term, it is in itself amusement. It is of the nature to distract from prayer or other obligations, and it has an effect on the life of the heart and on morals, and it is a means to corruption gradually.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
