Discussion on the prohibition of musical instruments.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you and benefit through you. Perhaps it is fitting for me to complete a benefit that was alluded to in the words of our brother Abu al-Harith, namely that allusion which reminded the attendees of what occurs among some people who have turned such an occasion into amusement, play, and the commission of sin by violating some explicit hadith texts, specifically playing musical instruments by following some pre-Islamic age of ignorance traditions, which are not part of Islam in any way. I want to mention that some people today, among those who may be known for some knowledge and interest in calling others to Islam, have been made to think their evil speech is good by permitting instruments of entertainment and musical instruments, claiming that there is no definitive text forbidding the musical instruments known today. I want to say that this claim of denying the text that forbids musical instruments is a false claim devoid of validity. It is not permissible for a Muslim to be deceived by it, no matter how famous the one making it is in the Muslim community today. This is because Islam, as you all know, its rulings are not based solely on the Noble Qur'an, but also on the authentic Sunnah. It is not possible for a knowledgeable Muslim to claim that every ruling one wants to state must be explicitly mentioned in the Noble Qur'an. There is no Muslim on the face of the earth who restricts himself to this claim, that is, that Islamic legal rulings are taken only from the Noble Qur'an. Rather, the Muslim must add to the Noble Qur'an the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). That Islam is Qur'an and Sunnah is a matter agreed upon by Muslims, a principle in which no two differ, as they used to say in old times, "no two camels butt heads in it." If that is the case, then it is misguidance to say, in what we are discussing now regarding the prohibition of musical instruments, that it is misleading Muslims to say that there is no definitive text indicating the prohibition of musical instruments, because the word "definitive" is inserted into Islamic jurisprudence in a way that jurists do not accept.
