Fasting a full year by vow or without a vow

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11776 )
Q: I am a Saudi woman in a state of ihram, aged 65. I previously made a vow to Allah when I was married, hoping that Allah would grant me children. Every child I was given died after a short life, and this continued until three children had passed away. At that point, I vowed to Allah that if He granted me a son who would live, I would fast a full year without breaking it for a single day. Now I have two married sons, praise be to Allah. Please advise me regarding this vow. May Allah reward you with good.
A: If the matter is as you described, it is recommended for you to expiate the vow with the expiation for an oath, which is: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you are unable to do any of that, then fast for three days; because it is disliked to fast a full year by vow or without a vow. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
