Q1: A wet nurse forgot that she had breastfed a certain man, but her two sisters testified and swore that they saw her breastfeed this child five times or more. Does this establish the wet nurse’s breastfeeding of this child?
A1: Breastfeeding is a matter that women generally know about, and it is established by the testimony of a just woman. Accordingly, the testimony of that woman’s two sisters that their sister breastfed a person five times or more within the two-year period establishes the breastfeeding, and the prohibition of marriage spreads through it, provided that they are trustworthy or one of them is. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
