Fatwa number ( 20416 )
Q: I submit this inquiry to your eminence, in which I seek your ruling, may Allah reward you, regarding my marriage to a girl whose mother my father married. My father consummated the marriage with her mother when she was three months old. Her mother then completed her natural breastfeeding until she was one and a half years old after my father consummated the marriage with her. She was being breastfed naturally. She was weaned after her mother learned that she was pregnant with my father's child. She was then raised in my father's care until she was seven years old. After that, her father took her to his home. I then requested to marry that girl, and I contracted the marriage with her, but I have not yet consummated the marriage. Your eminence: Is she permissible for me as a wife? Since my father consummated the marriage with her mother while she was breastfeeding naturally, and her mother completed her breastfeeding after my father consummated the marriage with her for a full one and a half years. Please inform us, may Allah reward you with the best reward, and peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
A: This girl is considered a non-mahram to you; because the milk she nursed
is attributed to her biological father, not to your father. Based on this, it is permissible for you to marry her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
