Fatwa number ( 15710 )
Q: I have a sister, may Allah have mercy on her, who was breastfed by my paternal aunt, along with my cousin (the daughter of my paternal uncle). My cousin married my maternal uncle (my mother’s brother), and she has breastfed many children, praise be to Allah. So, is it permissible for me to marry her daughter? And she—meaning the mother—was breastfed along with my sister who passed away when she was young?
A: There is no harm in marrying the daughter of your sister through breastfeeding, provided that the woman who breastfed them is not one of your mahrams (prohibited relatives); because this daughter you wish to marry is considered a stranger to you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
