The ruling on one who breastfed once from his maternal cousin

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A person asks, "O Shaykh, a man asks whether he breastfed once from his maternal cousin, so is it permissible for him to marry her, or are five breastfeedings required?"

Answer:
The Shari'ah has defined breastfeeding; five breastfeedings are required. One breastfeed does not result in prohibition and is not considered valid. This is based on the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Breastfeeding once or twiceلا تحرم الرضعةُ ولا الرضعتان
Sunan Ibn Majah 1940Sahih (Darussalam)
narrated by Muslim in "Sahih Muslim." Also, it is established in "Sahih Muslim" from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "What was revealed in the Qur'an was: ten known breastfeedings make marriage forbidden. Then this was abrogated by five known breastfeedings. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away while this was still being recited in the Qur'an." In a narration by al-Tirmidhi, it says: "And the matter remains as it is." Therefore, one breastfeed does not result in prohibition.
