The waiting period of a woman divorced before consummation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 562 )
Q: If a wife has not been consummated by her husband and he divorces her before consummation, does she have a waiting period for him?
A: Allah the Exalted said:
O You who have believed, when you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, then there is not for you any waiting period to count concerning themيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَمَسُّوهُنَّ فَمَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ عِدَّةٍ تَعْتَدُّونَهَا
[Al-Ahzab 33:49]
This verse is explicit in that if her husband divorces her before consummation, she has no waiting period to observe for him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
