The claim of a Sufi order leader that the one he expels from his gathering will die like a dog without faith
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q 12, 13, 14: First: Through his verification, he expelled some of those affiliated with him from his gathering, declaring them hypocrites and cast-offs, and he humiliated and disgraced them greatly. On one occasion, he said that the jurist and mufti (whose name was not mentioned) wrote that the one he expelled from his gathering will die without faith, like a dog. Despite this, he accused the great scholar of being a sorcerer through his verification and sent a group to the emirate of his successor to fight him. He also said that
his heart is black. On one occasion, he attributed this statement to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but now he denies this statement and the verification. Second: The Shaykh used to say to his successor: “According to my verification, this successor has reached the station of al-Ghawthiyyah (the one who provides relief in times of distress) and the station of al-Fard (the unique one) in the ummah and al-Qutb (the pole), and he is accepted by Allah the Exalted. But now he says to this successor that he is a hypocrite with a black heart and is expelled because he opposes the Shaykh and denies his false claim. Third: The Shaykh frequently threatens his followers that the Shaykh will strip them of their earnings, their good deeds, their jobs, their wealth, and the light of their hearts. He says: “The one who left me has become an outcast and will die the death of a dog.” All the murids (disciples) are afraid of this threat. We, the followers of the Shaykh, ask the distinguished scholars to clarify to us, in light of the noble Shari'ah, the truth of the many matters he claims, which contradict the Qur'an and the pure Sunnah, so that we may take the path of truth and correctness. And Allah is the One who grants success in all good.
A 12, 13, 14: First: The Shaykh’s claim that his verification led him to expel some of his followers and that they have become hypocrites, as well as his claim that the great scholar has become a sorcerer, and his claim that his successor has become an expelled hypocrite with a black heart—all of this is guesswork and conjecture
and following one’s desires in bringing near whom he wants and distancing whom he does not want. Second: The Shaykh’s statement that his successor has reached the station of al-Ghawthiyyah and the station of al-Fard is an innovation and an exaggeration regarding a person that leads to major shirk (associating partners with Allah). This is because if the common people are told that so-and-so is a Ghawth in times of distress and calamity, they believe it of him and begin to call upon him for aid, offer him sacrifices, and vow sacrifices for him, among other things. This is the very essence of major shirk that expels one from the religion of Islam, for calling for aid in spiritual matters—such as curing illness, alleviating poverty, seeking sustenance, or seeking children—is a unique attribute of Allah, and no one else is called upon in these matters. Third: The Shaykh’s frequent threats to many of his followers that he will strip them of their earnings, their good deeds, their jobs, their wealth, and the light of their hearts—this is a lie, disbelief, and a false statement. This is because the One who acts independently in creation and management is Allah, Mighty and Majestic. He the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:107], and He said: [Al-A'raf 7:54]. Thus, all creation is under His dominion and subjugation in terms of action, ownership, giving life,
and causing death. As for the servants, they have no power to cause harm or benefit. He the Exalted said:[Yunus 10:107]. The Shaykh is merely a deceiver, a trickster, and one who misleads people. We ask Allah for guidance, success, and steadfastness upon His straight path for us, for you, and for him, and that He protect us from the misleading trials. He is the best of those asked. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
