Ruling on the claim of the Grand Scholar of Bouhara that he is the absolute owner of the soul and faith on behalf of his followers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q3: The Grand Scholar of Bouhara claims that he is the absolute owner of the soul and faith - religious beliefs - on behalf of his followers.
Vol. 3: If a senior scholar of Bou Saada claims what was mentioned, his claim is invalid, whether by what he claims of ownership of the soul and faith he means that souls and hearts are in his hand, to be directed as he wills, guiding them to faith or leading them astray from the straight path. For that is not within the power of anyone other than Allah the Exalted; as He, the Most High, said:
So whoever Allah wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islam; and whoever He wants to misguide - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe.
[Al-An'am 6:125]
, and His saying:
He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray - never will you find for him a protecting guide.
[Al-Kahf 18:17]
, among other verses indicating that the direction of hearts, whether by guiding them or leading them astray, belongs to Allah alone, and as established in the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The hearts of the people are between two fingers of the fingers of the Most Merciful, and He directs them as He wills.
, and in his supplication (peace and blessings be upon him) when he was alarmed to his Lord, saying:
O changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3587Hasan (Darussalam)
, or if by his ownership of souls and faith he means, on behalf of his group, that his faith is sufficient for his followers to believe, and that they are rewarded and granted safety from punishment for it, even if they do evil and commit crimes and wrongs, then that contradicts what came in the Qur'an in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
, and His saying:
Every person, for what he earned, is retained.
[At-Tur 52:21]
, and His saying:
(38) Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained (39) Except the companions of the right, (40) [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other (41) About the criminals, (42) [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?"
[Al-Muddaththir 74:38-42]
, the verses, and His saying:
Whoever does a wrong will be recompensed for it, and he will not find besides Allah a protector or a helper. (124) And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer - those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged, [even as much as] the speck on a date seed.
[An-Nisa 4:123-124]
, and His saying:
And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives
[An-Najm 53:39]
, and His saying:
And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative.
[Fatir 35:18]
, among other verses that indicate
that every person is recompensed for his deeds, whether good or evil, and as it is established in the hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
He stood when it was revealed to him: "And warn your closest relatives," and he said: "O people of Quraysh - or a word to that effect - buy your souls, I cannot benefit you against Allah in anything. O Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib, I cannot benefit you against Allah in anything. O Safiyyah, the aunt of the Messenger of Allah, I cannot benefit you against Allah in anything. O Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad, ask me from my wealth whatever you wish, I cannot benefit you against Allah in anything."
