The lineage of Ahmad al-Badawi

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 18068 )
Q 5: It is said that Sayyid al-Badawi traces his lineage to the People of the House (Ahl al-Bayt). Is this correct, and is he among the awliya (close friends of Allah) and the righteous? Is it permissible to celebrate his birth or that of others in any form, or to speak about his commemoration and display his virtues and good deeds on the radio and television?
A 5: What is known as Sayyid al-Badawi is Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Ibrahim al-Husayni , one of the Sufis of the Maghreb in the seventh century. Many of the ignorant and the innovators among the Sufis and others have exaggerated about him to a degree that often takes its practitioner outside the religion of Islam, such as those who call upon him and seek aid from him, or ask him for support, or circumambulate what is claimed to be his grave. As for celebrating the commemoration of his birth or the birth of others, it is not permissible, because it is among the newly invented religious innovations. Moreover, one who looks into the biography of the aforementioned al-Badawi finds nothing in it that is worthy of attention. It is obligatory for the Muslim to be cautious in this matter so that the simple-minded, the innovators, and those with ulterior motives and desires do not introduce into his religion what is not of it, and to hold fast to the Book and the Sunnah, for in them is salvation and success in this world and the Hereafter. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
