Q: Regarding a group of women in Kuwait who are spreading Sufi da'wah in the Naqshbandi order, which was led by Ahmad Kiftarou , the former mufti of Syria . They operate under the official framework of a women's association, but they practice this da'wah in secret and display what they do not conceal. It has come to our attention that we have looked into their writings and some of their books, and the admission of some of them that they are part of this organization. This is represented by the following: they say that whoever has no shaykh, his shaykh is Shaytan, and whoever is not benefited by adab
The murabbi, is not benefited by a book or a Sunnah, and whoever says to his shaykh: why, will never succeed. They speak of the wasl (connection) and perform the Sufi dhikr while visualizing the image of their female shaykh, whom they call "Miss," during the dhikr. They kiss the hand of their shaykh, whom they call "Miss," and she is from Syria . They seek blessing (tabarruk) by drinking the water left in her cup. Among their books containing sorcery is the book (The Pearl and the Coral in Subjugating the Kings of the Jinn). They establish private schools for their children to contain them in their way. They work in the field of teaching, which gives them a field to spread this call among the girls in public middle and high schools. Some of these women have left their husbands and sought divorce through the courts when these husbands ordered them to stay away from this misguided path. The questions: 1 - What is the Shari'ah ruling on the 'aqidah (creed) of these women, given their insistence on this path? 2 - Is it permissible to marry them? 3 - What is the ruling on the marriage contract currently in place with one of them? 4 - Advice for them and warning them against this path? And may Allah reward us all with good.
A: The Sufi orders, including the Naqshbandi , are all innovated paths that contradict the Book and the Sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani). In fact, the Sufi orders did not stop at being an innovation, with the misguidance that is in innovation, but within them is much of major shirk (associating partners with Allah). This is through exaggeration regarding the shaykhs of the orders, calling for their aid (istighathah) other than Allah, and believing that they have control over the universe, and accepting their sayings without looking into them or presenting them to the Book and the Sunnah. Among this is what was mentioned in the question of their saying: "Whoever has no shaykh, his shaykh is Satan," and "Whoever is not benefited by the adab of the murabbi is not benefited by a book or a Sunnah," and "Whoever says to his shaykh: why, will never succeed." These are all false sayings that contradict the Book and the Sunnah. This is because the one whose saying is accepted absolutely, without discussion or opposition, is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). This is due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Hashr 59:7], and His saying: [An-Najm 53:3-4]
As for others among the humans, no matter how much knowledge they reach, their saying is not accepted except if it agrees with the Book and the Sunnah. Whoever claims that a specific person must be obeyed absolutely, other than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), has apostatized from Islam. This is due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:[At-Tawbah 9:31]. The scholars have interpreted this verse to mean that taking them as lords other than Allah is obeying them in making the haram (forbidden) halal (lawful) and making the halal haram. As came in the hadith of 'Adi ibn Hatim in the collections of al-Tabarani and Ibn Jarir and al-Tirmidhi , he said: . It is obligatory to be cautious of the Sufis and those who follow them, men and women, and those who are given the responsibility of teaching and upbringing, and their entry into women's associations and others; so that they do not corrupt the 'aqidah of people. It is obligatory for a man to prevent his dependents from entering those associations or schools that are run by the Sufis or where they teach, in order to preserve their 'aqidah, and to preserve the families from disintegration and the corruption of wives toward their husbands. Whoever adopts the methodology of the Sufis has departed from the methodology of the people of the Sunnah and the community. And if he believes in the shaykhs of the Sufis that they grant blessing, or that they benefit or harm in what only Allah is capable of, such as healing diseases, bringing sustenance, and repelling harms, or that they must be obeyed in everything they say, even if they contradict the Book and the Sunnah - whoever believes that has associated partners with Allah in major shirk that takes one out of the religion. It is not permissible to be loyal to them or to marry them. This is due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:221]
up to His saying:[Al-Baqarah 2:221]. The woman who was influenced by Sufism but did not reach the level of the belief mentioned above should not be married initially, and she should not be kept by the one who married her except after advising her and her repentance to Allah. What we advise the women mentioned is repentance to Allah and returning to the truth, leaving this false methodology, being cautious of the callers to evil, holding fast to the methodology of the people of the Sunnah and the community, reading beneficial books containing the correct 'aqidah, and listening to lessons, lectures, and beneficial programs prepared by scholars who are upright on the correct methodology. We also advise them to obey their husbands and their guardians in what is good. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.

This is due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.
I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I had a cross of gold around my neck. He said: "O 'Adi, throw off this idol from your neck." So I threw it off. Then I came to him and he was reciting Surat al-Bara'ah. He recited this verse: "They took their rabbis and their monks as lords besides Allah" until he finished it. I said: "We do not worship them." He said: "Do they not make haram what Allah has made halal, and you make it haram? And do they not make halal what Allah has made haram, and you make it halal?" I said: "Yes." He said: "That is their worship of them."
And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe
وَلاَ تَنْكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكَاتِ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَّup to His saying:
And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe
وَلاَ تُنْكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنُوا
