The excuse for not knowing the fundamentals of Islam and its rules

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17749 )
Q 3: We, a group of students, disagreed on the issue of establishing the proof against the one who opposes us in the matters of the fundamentals of religion. Some of us said: Every ignorant person is excused by ignorance, in all matters, and we do not distinguish between the fundamentals and the branches, the apparent and the hidden. And a group said: He is excused by ignorance, but
in the hidden matters, as for excusing by ignorance in the fundamentals, no, for there is no excuse for one who associates partners with Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) and worships others, such as graves, stones, and trees, for it is not permissible for a Muslim to be ignorant of this, and if he does so, he is not a Muslim. As for the hidden matters, yes, there is an excuse by ignorance in them until the prophetic proof is established. So what is the truth and the correct position in this matter? Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you with good.

A 3: The correct position is that no one is excused for not knowing the fundamentals of Islam and its rules, among those to whom the Qur'an and the sending of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have reached, due to the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
And this Qur'an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches.وَأُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ لأُنْذِرَكُمْ بِهِ وَمَنْ بَلَغَ
[Al-An'am 6:19]
, and His saying (Exalted is He):
This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned therebyهَذَا بَلاغٌ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيُنْذَرُوا بِهِ
[Ibrahim 14:52]
the verse. And what came in the meaning of these verses. As for the branch matters whose ruling may be hidden, these are excused by ignorance until the proof is established against him; due to many hadiths that came regarding this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
