Q: I have a friend who is older than me, and he is very dear to me. He has a young daughter, and unfortunately, I have a debt. I am knowledgeable about the Shari'ah, I let my beard grow, and I shorten my garment for the sake of Allah and in an attempt to please Him. I used to visit my friend frequently, considering him a brother to me. However, it happened that his daughter, who is younger than me, began to show some attachment to me, starting to get close to me and pulling me toward her. I tried to distance myself from her, but I did not succeed. The point is, she held my hand and held her own hands more than once,
and she said things indicating that she could not do without me, and so on. After that, I felt the weight of my great sin and distanced myself from her. In my heart, I remained aware of my betrayal of my friend, who had trusted me with his home and his daughter. She was the beginning of the cause and the one who encouraged it. In any case, I distanced myself and became someone who does not visit them except once a month, so that the father does not notice the reason for the cutoff. Unfortunately, I find my mind turning toward her. I ask for clarification on the following: 1 - The ruling of the Shari'ah on what I did. 2 - The expiation for what I did in betraying my friend by holding his daughter's hand more than once, speaking with her, and not lowering my gaze when visiting them. And the treatment for this: Will I be exposed on the Day of Resurrection for what I did, knowing that Allah concealed it from me in this world?
A: What you did with that girl is munkar (what is wrong) and a betrayal of her family. You must repent, seek forgiveness, and be kind to her family. We advise you to avoid the sources of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and their causes. We ask Allah to conceal your faults in your Hereafter just as He concealed them from you in this world. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
