The Prayer and Supplication for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 20834 )
Q 2: Is it permissible to offer the prayer and supplication for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ? If it is
The answer: Yes, what is this prayer and what are its times?

A 2: It is prescribed to offer the prayer for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but supplication for him is not prescribed; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has been forgiven for what came before of his sin and what came after, and because no evidence has come from the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Prophet regarding the prescription of supplication for him, so supplication for him is a religious innovation, contrary to the original principle, and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did not do it. As for the manner of the prayer for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that is clarified by what is reported in (the two Sahihs) from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him):
He told us to say, “O God, bless Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as Thou didst bless Abraham and Abraham’s family. Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious. O God, grant favours to Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as Thou didst grant favours to Abraham and Abraham’s family. Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious.”

or other than that which is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him). There is no specific time for it, but it is said in the first and last tashahhud, and when hearing his name or reciting it, or when mentioning him (peace and blessings be upon him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
