Supplication in a language other than Arabic

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 5782 )
Q1: What is the manner of supplication , and is it permissible for a person to make his supplication in his prayer in any language he wishes, and is his prayer valid?
A1: A person should supplicate to his Lord in secret, with humility and in a low voice, and he should not supplicate with what is forbidden. He should supplicate to Allah the Exalted in his prayer and outside of prayer in Arabic and in other languages, according to what is easy for him. His prayer is not invalidated if he supplicates in it in a language other than Arabic. He should strive, when supplicating in his prayer, to seek out what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of supplications in prayer, and to place them in their proper positions therein, following the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in that. Some scholars have authored books on the dhikr of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his supplications in prayer and elsewhere, among which are: (Al-Kalim al-Tayyib) by Ibn Taymiyyah , and (Al-Wabil al-Sayyib) by Ibn al-Qayyim , and the book (Riyad al-Salihin) by al-Nawawi , and (Al-Adhkar) by him as well. So buy whatever is easy for you from them to know from them the established dhikr and supplications, their places, and their times, for that is better for you and more beneficial. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
