Supplication in a language other than Arabic
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6348 )
Q1: Is it permissible for him to supplicate in the English language?
A1: It is permissible for a person to supplicate to Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) in the language that
he knows, whether it is Arabic, English, Urdu, or any other language; because of His saying, the Exalted:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلا وُسْعَهَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
, and His saying, the Most High:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
