If a wild beast attacks one of the sheep and the shepherd catches it after it has broken one of its ribs, but it has not died, and he slaughters it, is it permissible to eat its meat or not?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The second question says: While my sheep were grazing in the open, a wild beast attacked them and seized one of them. I pursued it and found that it had broken one of its limbs, but it was still alive and had not died. So I slaughtered it. Is it permissible to eat its meat or not?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible to eat its meat as long as you caught it while it was still alive, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
those from which a wild animal has eaten وما أكل السبع
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
meaning it is forbidden to you
and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death] وما أكل السبع إلا ما ذكيتم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
so whatever you catch alive from what has been eaten by a wild beast, or what has been strangled, or what has been beaten to death, or what has been killed by a wild beast, or what has been gored, its slaughter makes it lawful.

The questioner : Yes.
