Raising the hand with the greeting to a distant person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 3932 )
Q5: May Allah make the means of transportation easy, including cars. It often happens that I meet people or pass by them while I am in the car, and I initiate the greeting. However, some of them do not believe that I greeted them unless I raise my hand along with the words. Is there any sin on me for raising my hand, given that I know of the prohibition regarding that?
A5: There is no blame on you for gesturing with your hand when greeting in the situation you described, for it is reported that
It was reported that he (peace and blessings be upon him) greeted women and gestured to them with his handروي عنه صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه سلم على نسوة وأشار بيده إليهن
. The purpose of that, and Allah knows best, is to make them understand that he is greeting them, but it is not permissible to make the gesture a substitute for the greeting.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
