What is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his own soul, it is they who will be the successful"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful. ومن يوق شح نفسه فأولئك هم المفلحون
[Al-Hashr 59:9]
?

The Shaykh : The meaning of the verse is clear.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : It is that Allah has decreed success for the one whom Allah the Exalted protects from the stinginess of his own soul, meaning his greed for what is not his, or his greed to the extent that he withholds what is obligatory upon him, because stinginess revolves around two matters.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Either greed for what is not yours or what is not your right, or withholding what you are obligated to give. So, if Allah protects a person from the stinginess of his soul such that he does not covet what he does not deserve and does not withhold what is obligatory upon him, then this is among the causes of success. For example, if a person is protected from the stinginess of his soul regarding zakah, and he pays out all of what is obligatory upon him from it, and Allah the Exalted makes it easy for him to give in charity and what brings him closer to Allah the Mighty and Majestic, then he has been protected from the stinginess of his soul in giving what Allah the Mighty and Majestic loves and not withholding what is obligatory upon him. And if Allah the Exalted protects a person from taking the wealth of people by falsehood, whether by theft, betrayal, or the like, then Allah has protected him from the stinginess of his soul. So, protection from the stinginess of the soul is that Allah the Mighty and Majestic protects a person from coveting what he does not deserve or from withholding what he is obligated to give. Whoever is protected from that is among the successful. And "success" is a comprehensive term for attaining what is desired and the removal of what is disliked.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
His fourth question says.
