Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {And the souls were made to love greed}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The noble verse, Your Eminence:
And present in [human] souls is stinginess
[Al-Nisa: 128] Do you also want an explanation of it?

Answer:
This is as the apparent meaning of the Qur'an indicates: among the characteristics of souls are greed and stinginess, except for whom Allah has mercy. Therefore, it is obligatory for the believer to fear that, to guard against greed and stinginess, and to accustom himself to generosity and liberality, and to avoid stinginess and greed.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
and beware of niggardliness, for niggardliness destroyed your predecessors.
Bulugh al-Maram 16:47
And Allah the Exalted says in His great Book:
And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.
[Al-Hashr: 9] Among the characteristics of the servants are greed and stinginess, except for whom Allah has protected, except for whom Allah has mercy. And greed is the intense desire for wealth by every means, whether lawful or forbidden, and then when he finds it, he is stingy with it. So the greedy person is eager to seek wealth by every path, and then when he finds it, he is stingy with it as well. And the evil of greed is great; for this reason, He the Exalted said:
And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.
[Al-Hashr: 9] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
and beware of niggardliness, for niggardliness destroyed your predecessors.
Bulugh al-Maram 16:47
Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection
