Q: I am an elderly man who has suffered from paralysis since childhood and am poor, possessing nothing of the world’s goods. Some people of good, may Allah reward them with good, give charity to the needy by giving each of them one hundred riyals or whatever is available, on the condition that they present a mental health certificate or a civil status card. I collect some of these certificates and cards, then I go to this benefactor to obtain whatever is available, knowing that I take the cards and certificates with the consent of their owners. Some of my brothers told me that it is not permissible for me to do this. Is it permissible for me to do so or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A: This action is not permissible, and you may not take anything except on the basis of your own card.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
