Q: I received my education in the United States of America , and there in the city of Los Angeles I got to know many Muslims residing there, whether they were Americans or of other nationalities. A number of them asked me to send them some of the water of Zamzam, and I did so. I charged them the cost of shipping the two jerrycans and the actual expenses, in addition to a small percentage for the effort and time I spent on this process. I ask you, Your Eminence, to give me a legal ruling on this matter, knowing that they are asking for more Zamzam water. Please inform us, may Allah reward you, and may you have the reward and the recompense.
A: There is nothing wrong with what you did in sending Zamzam water to those who requested it from outside the Kingdom so that they may benefit from it, for it is blessed water, and it is recommended to drink it as an act of worship of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). There is also nothing wrong with the money you took in exchange for the shipping costs and the effort in sending it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
