Fatwa number ( 13612 )
Q: We inform Your Eminence that there are some buildings prepared by their owners for rent, such as furnished rooms or apartments, which have been titled with certain phrases, such as: (Palace of the Servants of Allah, Palace of Blessedness, Palace of al-Kawthar, Palace of al-Firdaws..) and the like. We request that Your Eminence graciously issue a ruling for us: Is it permissible to use such phrases for buildings prepared for rent, or is it not permissible? Please rule for us, may Allah reward you, may Allah preserve you; because this matter is widespread in Makkah in a noticeable manner. May Allah guide you and protect you.
A : It is not permissible to use the aforementioned phrases for rooms and apartments prepared for rent; because they contain lying. Naming it (Palace of the Servants of Allah) implies praise, and it may be inhabited by someone who is not worthy of that. Naming it (Palace of Blessedness) is not permissible; because the word (Blessedness) is not used except for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), as Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Mulk 67:1] . And the aforementioned palace may not be blessed and may have no good in it. And (Palace of al-Kawthar), which is (the abundant good), and the palace may be pure evil, and it is used for a river in Paradise that Allah gave to His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), as in the saying of Allah the Mighty and Majestic: [Al-Kawthar 108:1] . And because (al-Firdaws) is the name of the highest and middle part of Paradise, so it is not fitting to name a palace of the palaces of this world with it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
