Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. And after that: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the Honorable Director of the Dawah and Guidance Center in the province of Jeddah , in his letter number (375 \ 9 \ 20 \ J) dated 10 \ 5 \ 1420 AH, accompanied by the inquiry submitted by the Head of the Commission for Promoting Virtue and Prohibiting Vice in the province of Jeddah , which was referred to
the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, number (2813) dated 21 \ 5 \ 1420 AH. The inquirer asked a question, the text of which is: Is it permissible to write the names of restaurant branches such as: (King's Bridge) and (Peace Hospital) — and since the name (King) and the name (Peace) are among the Beautiful Names of Allah — or is it not?
After the Committee studied the inquiry, it answered that writing (King's Bridge) or (Peace Hospital) on bags or papers is not a problem; because the Names of Allah the Exalted are not intended by them, but rather what pertains to the created beings is intended. For some of the Names of Allah the Exalted, such as King and Peace and the like, are shared names, applied to Allah and to the created being according to its status. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
