His maternal uncle is deaf and mute; does he perform the prayer on his behalf?

Fatwa number ( 11203 )
Q: I have a maternal uncle who is blind, deaf, and mute. He does not pray, does not know how to pray , and is unable to understand what we tell him about prayer. What should we do? Can I pray on his behalf? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.
A : You and your maternal uncle’s guardians should strive to make him understand Islam, its pillars, and its rulings by whatever means you are able, such as teaching him how to read by touch with the hand and the like. As for your praying on his behalf, it is not permissible for one person to pray on behalf of another. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
