Fatwa No. ( 16589 )
Q: There are many problems between me and my husband, as well as between me and my husband’s family. He boycotts me, does not give me my rights, and does not treat me kindly. I have suspected that a sorcerer was appointed for him, so I went to a man who gave me papers—I have attached pictures of them—containing Qur’anic verses and Prophetic supplications, along with papers containing disjointed letters whose meaning is unknown. He asked me to put them in my pocket after passing over them, along with my husband and my children, for one week. Since I have doubts about this practice, I am seeking a ruling.
A : After the Committee examined the papers attached to the question, it became clear that they contain Qur’anic verses and Prophetic supplications in the form of hizb, along with
other papers containing disjointed letters and talismans. Based on this, it is not permissible to use these papers because of the mixing of truth and falsehood in them and the defective belief in them. It is obligatory to leave them and not use them, in order to protect the creed and avoid shirk (associating partners with Allah) and its means. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
