The Ruling on Visiting Sorcerers to Treat Sorcery or to Protect Against It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence, the Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him and grant him scrupulousness). Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. After that:
Your Eminence, I am a young man from outside the Kingdom, and in our country, sorcery is widespread. There are sorcerers and magicians who practice a type of sorcery called "confirmation and complication," meaning: binding. A man marries but is unable to reach his wife through intercourse, and it is said that they performed sorcery on him so that he cannot have intercourse with his wife. Some of them divorce her and claim failure, while others go to a sorcerer to have it undone for them, which is called "unbinding," or in other words, nullifying the sorcery. He gives him papers, some of which are used for ghusl, some for wudu, some are burned and used as incense, and some are tied around his penis. For your information, the papers contain cryptic symbols whose meaning is unknown, some are from the Qur'an, and some are in the form of stars and symbols.
I inform you that some young men refuse to marry out of fear of this act, while others go to sorcerers before marriage with the purpose of obtaining papers from the sorcery as a protection. When we advise such young men not to go to sorcerers and that this act is shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah , they excuse themselves by saying that it is permissible to treat sorcery with sorcery, without clear evidence.
Therefore, we ask your Excellency for advice and guidance regarding what is required toward this act, and what are the means of protection from this sorcery from the Book and the Sunnah? Are there any proofs for treating sorcery with sorcery? May Allah reward you with the best reward, and may He bless you and your knowledge.

Answer:
And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. After that: It is not permissible to visit sorcerers or ask them questions. Rather, one must be cautious of that and report them to the court in your country so that they are punished with what they deserve. May Allah guide everyone to know the truth and follow it.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
