I told her, and I swear by Allah, if any one of those women rode in my car, it would be the last day between you and me

The first question of Fatwa No. ( 20195 )
Q 1: A dispute arose between me and my wife, and its cause was her taking one of her female colleagues (a schoolteacher) in her school with us in my private car in the presence of my wife, and I am not comfortable with this teacher. So, after we went home, the discussion between me and my wife heated up, and I said to her, warning her against inviting any woman to ride with us in the car, saying: (
By Allah, if you ride—meaning: if you ask—any woman from them to ride in my car, it will be the last day between me and you ), and I intended to emphasize this to them so they would understand that I was angry. By the word "from them," I meant two specific women (two teachers with her) in the school, and by the oath, I intended to threaten my wife so she would not do that. Please issue a ruling, knowing that my wife has not yet asked any of them or any other woman to ride with us, out of fear of that oath, and I have not taken them in the car either since that date. Is this an oath? If so, what is its expiation, and is there anything on her if she says to any woman: "Come, ride with us in the car," meaning: she invited her to ride? We ask for your information, and may Allah reward you with good.

A 1: This is an oath. You must fulfill it regarding what you intended to prevent, which is these women riding with you. If you break it, an oath expiation becomes obligatory upon you, which is: feeding ten poor people from the middle of what you feed your family, for each poor person half a sa' of wheat or other, or what fills them with cooked food, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you do not find [any of these], then fast three days. -
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
