Medicines that cause sleep

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q 4: What is the ruling on sedative medicines for students to study and for drivers on long trips?
A 4: Their harm is greater than their benefit, and whatever is of that nature is forbidden. Moreover, it is possible to do without these medicines by using what is more beneficial and safe from their harms and dire consequences. Students can distribute the study of the prescribed subjects over the duration of the term, which makes the information more firmly established in their minds and their understanding of it deeper, to the point that it is hardly forgotten. Drivers can take rest periods during their long trips, and even if they take longer to cover the distance, it is safer for them, for those riding with them, for those on their road, and for their schedules, and it is more in line with the regulations established for their benefit. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
