Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 7539 )
Q 6: What is the ruling on the sale and use of medicines that contain certain substances extracted from cows, bulls, or pigs? Knowing that if those substances are extracted from cows, we do not know whether those cows were slaughtered according to the Shari'ah or not? Also, there are some medicines that contain the blood of bulls and cows, so is it permissible to sell and use these medicines or not?
A 6: It is not permissible to sell or use medicines that contain certain substances extracted from bulls or cows that were not slaughtered according to the Shari'ah, as well as medicines that contain extracts from pigs, and likewise medicines that contain shed blood. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
