The first question of Fatwa No. ( 4097 )
Q 1: A son enrolled in one of the institutes to study, but his father is not pleased with that and wants his son to work in trade and not study. Does the son have the right to disobey his father and study, or should he obey him and leave studying?
Vol. 1: The son should combine the two good things: he should seek knowledge and help his father with his trade. If his father insists on compelling him to abandon seeking knowledge and devote himself to trade, he should not obey him in that, and this is not undutifulness to parents. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
