A : The prohibition was reported regarding killing the hoopoe, and from the prohibition of killing it, the ruling of forbidding its consumption was derived; based on the principle that the default ruling of a prohibition is prohibition. It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said:Mishkat al-Masabih 4145 It was narrated by Ahmad and Abu
Dawud and Ibn Majah . Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said about this hadith: Its narrators are the narrators of the authentic collections. And al-Bayhaqi said: It is the strongest report in this chapter. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
