What is the ruling on hunting the hoopoe bird? Is it lawful or forbidden?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He also inquires about hunting the hoopoe bird: is it lawful or forbidden?

The Shaykh : The correct view is that it is forbidden, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing it. Whatever the Lawgiver has commanded to be killed or forbidden to be killed is forbidden. As for what He has commanded to be killed, it is forbidden out of respect for it; and as for what He has forbidden to be killed, it is forbidden due to the prohibition. If the hoopoe is forbidden, then killing it is not prescribed, because you will not benefit from it; rather, killing it is prohibited because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it. He forbade the killing of four types of animals: the ant, the bee, the hoopoe, and the hoopoe (or the hoopoe-like bird). Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you, O honorable Shaykh, and may He magnify your reward for what you have clarified for us and for the honorable listening brothers.
Our noble brothers, the session has ended.
