Q: What is the ruling on smoking and eating hyena ?
A: Smoking is forbidden; because it is a foul, disgusting substance to those with pure souls and sound minds, and Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says:[Al-A'raf 7:157] And He (Glorified and Exalted is He) says: [Al-Ma'idah 5:4] the verse. And because it is a narcotic, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited it, as narrated in , and because its harm to health has been medically established, and it is known that what is established to be harmful is forbidden to use. And because spending
in the situation described is considered a waste of money, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited the waste of money. Indeed, al-Bukhari and Muslim (may Allah have mercy on them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Bulugh al-Maram 16:20 The dislike here is a dislike of prohibition. As for eating hyena, it is lawful; as narrated by Imam Ahmad and the authors of the Sunan from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umarah , who said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 851Sahih (Darussalam) . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
